Product Description

Samsung Solstice A887 design

The Samsung Solstice A887 has a very simplistic yet slick designing. The all Black body with a vast 3 inches LCD touch screen, and only the very essential keys for operating the phone, is like a standard fully touch screen phone, with no particular inputs in terms of the look that makes it stand out from the other similar phones. The only buttons you will see on the body are the call and end button, and the usual left and right keys. On the sides of the phone you have a camera dedicated and main menu shortcut keys. Other than that you have a Samsung proprietary USB and charging port as well as the volume control keys. The back of the phone has a nice leathery and comfortable feel to it, making it easier to hold in your hand.

The phone supports multiple numbers with every contact in your phonebook so you can store the home number, work number etc. Also the phone is internationally compatible so you can make and receive calls from any part of the world (roaming rates apply).

Home screen

The home screen of the phone is customizable and convenient according to your needs. While there are the standard - contacts, phonebook and menu options on the bottom-most bar; on the left hand side you can choose from plenty of widgets, including a few new ones like Facebook, yahoo messenger etc. The music player also has a nice personalized feel to it. The widgets on your home screen can be modified easily according to what you prefer and use frequently.

Main menu

The main menu has a very swanky feel to it, with large and easily identifiable options that you can navigate through very conveniently. The touch screen keypad is also very tactile and functional, and gives you the option of using an alphanumeric input option, or brings up the QWERTY keypad, when you turn the phone landscape style. The phone does also have a handwriting recognition option, but this does not really work out very well, and most of your letters end up not being recognized.

Messaging features

The phone supports all your regular texting and chatting features. You can send texts, multimedia messages with pictures and videos; and can send emails both with the popular accounts like Yahoo! AOL and the not so popular accounts. You can also chat with Instant Messengers like Yahoo! and Aim. The HTML web browser also lets you access the Internet with ease. However, it is the typing on the touch screen keypad that may require a little getting used to for some.

Bluetooth

The Bluetooth technology lets you do a lot more with the phone. You can connect to other Bluetooth devices like your car kit, or plug in your Bluetooth stereo headsets (A2DP, can be purchased separately) to listen to music or talk hassle-free. With the Direct-to-Printing option you can give direct printing commands to your Bluetooth enabled attached printer.

GPS support

A standard in most sophisticated phones today, the A-GPS, with AT&T Navigator gives you easy to understand and follow directions, at every turn, so there is little chance you’ll ever end up getting lost again. You can also view traffic updates and look for alternative routes, so you reach your destination and only encounter minimal traffic.

2.0 megapixels camera

The 2.0 megapixels camera with 3x digital zoom is enough to get you decent pictures on-the-go. You can choose from multiple modes for the perfect picture. The camera also supports video recordings, so you can even try the Video calling and Video Messaging features to get in touch with your friends. You can record long videos of up to an hour, or shorter ones to share with your friends via multimedia messaging.

Entertainment

The phone has all the regular entertainment features you can ask for- streaming multimedia for your favorite shows, news updates, games, themes, wallpapers and an MP3 player. You can transfer your songs via the USB port from your PC and even download more when you’ve had enough of them. You can even have the MP3 player widget on your home screen for easy access.
