Product Description
The Motorola i776 has fairly good call quality and combines well with a full slate of Nextel services in an easy to use, compact design. If you’re on the Nextel network, the i776 is a decent cell phone to own, offering swell performance. The i776 comes in an attractive silver burgundy design and has all the Nextel refinements, though it does not have the usual rubberized exterior of its predecessors, the i365 and the i576. Moto i776 works on the iDEN 800 Network.
Design
As far as design is concerned, the i776 hosts the identical antenna and external display that comes on any Motorola phone. Nonetheless, it combines a sporting surface with a maroon design that is appealing. Moreover, it’s nice and compact with the dimensions 3.39 inches tall x 1.8 inches wide x 0.8 inch thick and weighs in at just 3.56 ounces. It has a comfortable feeling when you hold it.
The display on this Moto is rectangular and fairly small. The display reveals the battery life, date, time, numeric caller ID, and signal strength. It also supports 64k colors with a resolution of 96x40 pixels. The Bluetooth feature has two indicator lights while new messages sit directly above the display. Meanwhile, the camera lens sits right at the top of the phone. The volume rocker sits on the right spine, adjacent to the push-to-talk button. Sitting on the top are the speakerphone button and one for sending calls to voice mail.
The internal display is 1.75 in and supports 64k colors and has a high resolution of 480x240 pixels. You may change the backlighting and font size if you wish. The menus may either be viewed as icons or lists and they are fairly intuitive. The controls on the keypad are spacious enough so you can dial and text comfortably and with speed. There are 4-way toggle and a central OK key in the navigation array. Additionally, you can also find two soft keys, a camera shortcut, a dedicated menu control and End/power keys in the navigation array. More than that, the toggle is also a shortcut to four of your favorite designated functions.
Features
The 600-contact Phonebook is a touted feature on the i776, since it leaves ample room for entering business contacts. You can enter 7 entries and an email address for each of your Phonebook entries. You may also classify your contacts further into groups to be used for Push to talk calls or pair them with one of the Polyphonic ringtones on your phone. Other core features on the i776 are pretty much like any average cell phone. They include a calendar, voice recorder, vibrate mode, text and multimedia messaging, a speakerphone, call times, notepad, voice dialing, call forwarding and Bluetooth.
The i776 Moto supports English, Portuguese, French, and Spanish. You can also customize Ringtones for the i776 or download MP3 ringtones. The Speakerphone offers convenient handsfree conversations, while Voice-activated Dialing lets you use your voice to dial your calls. You can synchronize the i776 with your PC with the PC Synchronization feature available, while Voice Memo feature lets you record short ‘memos’ as reminders; and Ringer Profiles support storing your favorite ringtones easily. Picture Caller ID provides a picture for you to associate with each call. It’s much nicer than looking at a number. The i776 offers preloaded Games and you can download more Java Titles for more video games
MIDI, MP3 and WAV Ringtypes are supported on the i776. Java is the Application Platform utilized on the i776 and Customizable Graphics may be downloaded. The phone comes built in with Openwave 7 Browser and is Mobile Web Browsing enabled. Great for texters, this phone is preloaded with T9 Predictive Text Entry that lets the i776 complete words for you automatically. And of course there is a Standard Headset Jack on the i776 that is 2.5 mm
The i776 supports Nextel Direct Connect PTT services while International Direct Connect links you to PTT users across the world. You may also use Group Connect to chat with PTT users in other countries as well. And Direct Talk offers out of network PTT chat features with other Direct Talk handsets in a range of 6 miles. You also have features like NextMail, giving you the option of sending voice messages to an email address.
Digital Camera
The Digital Camera on the 1776 is VGA and takes photos in five different resolutions ranging 160x128 to 640x480. Editing features included on the phone are two shutter sounds, a self-timer and two quality settings. Since a flash is not available, the camera offers a low-light setting. However, there is no video option. The i776 comes with approximately 6 MB of shared internal memory with a meter letting you know how much memory is available.
