Product Description
Appearance
The candy bar-shaped BlackBerry Curve 8330 is wide and boxy. It is a solid form that is easy to hold (leathery but soft exterior makes sure you get a good grip while using it). And it comes in a soft, shiny pink color that doesn’t look ‘girly’ or over-the-top—a perfect choice if you want to add a marginal amount of color to your style. The exterior is sophisticatedly designed placing the 2-megapixel camera with its flash at the back.
Interestingly, the Curve is a ‘dark horse’ of sorts. Some of its features are latent, which emerge when you explore it for a while. For instance, its wide screen undoubtedly delivers vivid colors and images, but it’s also light-sensitive (alters according to the physical environment—indoors, outdoors, day or night). Curve has a long battery (lithium-ion) life that ensures the phone’s usage to the optimum level.
Connectivity
BlackBerry Curve’s strengths are its mobile web browsing (full HTML) with one-touch access and its ‘push’ (real-time) e-mail facility that can integrate up to ten personal and corporate accounts (VPN, POP3, IMAP, SMTP). Both guarantee timely delivery and connectivity. And when used with Verizon and BlackBerry features they become powerful on-the-go solutions.
Its advanced Bluetooth wireless technology facilitates exchange, sharing and downloading at high speed. The Wi-Fi connectivity is its other efficient and laudable feature. At the rate and speed it functions, it will not let you falter at home, in a corporate set-up or any other WI-FI hotspot. Finally, not to miss are its trouble-free full QWERTY keyboard (backlit and with spell checker) and voice-activated dialing and recognition. They make sure you are available professionally without hitches. After all, time is money, isn’t it?
Navigation
Find your way in a new city or a locality using BlackBerry Curve’s Global Positioning System satellite service (using in-built GPS receiver). No more asking for or guessing directions—its VZ Navigator from Verizon Wireless renders precise turn-by-turn directions. And to further make your touring easy, you can use Curve’s location-based mobile map application like BlackBerry Maps for driving directions. The interactive maps allow you to pan left or right, or zoom in and out as needed. Alternatively, you can request for a Google map in a jiffy as Curve allows great download speed.
Camera
Watch news or enjoy a movie on Curve’s large color display. You can even store vivid travel memories utilizing the in-built 2.0 megapixels with high resolution (1600 x 1200 pixels) offering print-quality images. Curve’s camera also comes with LED flash, expandable memory (using micro-SD card) and self-timer. You can click self-portraits too. Even though it cannot record video it will not deter you from enjoying its entertainment features.
Music
Other relaxing feature is Curve’s melodious capabilities. Listen to your favorite number off an exhaustive playlist using the MP3 player (supports MP3, AAC, MIDI, WAV music files and AVI, MP4, MOV, and 3GP video formats). You can even listen to, shuffle, stream and transfer music using Bluetooth support and stereo headset (A2DP). And if the ‘borrowed’ music tires you, try browsing through its myriad polyphonic ring tone and profile base, play the downloadable games (Java titles) and customize graphics for backgrounds and themes.
Messaging
Curve’s multimedia messaging, with Verizon IN messaging add-on rate plan option, is a wonderful feature. Its instant messaging (IM) with notifications, emoticons and contacts is as good as on your PC or laptop! It comes pre-loaded with BlackBerry messenger. Text messaging (SMS) and group messaging is convenient too. Most applications have spell check option that saves time and makes your life hassle-free.
Other Features
The BlackBerry Curve goes beyond the usual features and comes with attachment or format viewing (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Corel WordPerfect, PDF, JPEG, TIFF, GIF, etc). Its advanced 2.0 version of Bluetooth wireless technology functions to the ‘T’ and is accompanied by a headset, hands free and dial-up networking option. It supports serial port profiles. PC synchronization is also possible on the Curve. Be updated at all times as you connect your address book, calendar, pictures and e-mail to your laptop or PC. You can organize your life with ease using Curve’s calendar, tasks list, memo pad, alarm and calculator. What’s more, the phone also supports Verizon Wireless and BlackBerry voice, TXT+PIX+FLIX and tethering plans. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
